Turning Childhood Insecurity Into Championship Ambition

At eight years old, Asaad Touqan was not thinking about championship belts, professional boxing or building a name across the Arab sporting world. He was simply trying to become more confident.

School insecurities had affected the way he saw himself. There was also a childhood crush he wanted to impress and, in a detail that makes his story much more relatable, an obsession with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Those different influences pushed him toward combat sports.

More than a decade later, the reason he started may sound simple, but the journey that followed has been anything but ordinary. At 19, the Jordanian fighter of Palestinian origin has become WBC Asia Youth Super Middleweight Champion while also holding an ICB UAE Middleweight title.

The insecure child who entered training looking for confidence is now building a professional career around discipline, ambition and one belief that continues to guide him: trust the process.

Boxing Began as a Personal Battle

For Asaad, fighting started long before opponents began standing across from him inside a professional ring.

His first opponent was insecurity.

At school, he wanted to feel stronger and more comfortable in himself. Combat sports offered an environment where improvement could be measured through effort rather than popularity or outside opinions.

Training gradually changed the way he thought.

Progress required repetition. Techniques had to be practised again and again. Physical conditioning demanded patience. Some days felt better than others, but showing up remained important.

That early experience gave Asaad something more valuable than learning how to fight. It gave him a structure for building confidence.

What began because of childhood emotions slowly became part of his identity.

Growing Up Through Combat Sports

Asaad spent much of his childhood and teenage years developing inside combat sports.

Before professional boxing became the centre of his career, he built significant experience in Muay Thai. His achievements include world, Asian and multiple UAE championship recognition in the sport.

Those years created a strong foundation.

Competition teaches athletes lessons that training alone cannot provide. There is pressure, uncertainty and the knowledge that another person has prepared specifically to defeat you.

Asaad learned how to control those emotions while still young.

His success in Muay Thai also showed that the child who once entered training because of insecurity had already started transforming into a serious competitor.

Eventually, boxing became the next mountain he wanted to climb.

Entering Professional Boxing While Still Young

Moving into professional boxing brought a different type of challenge.

Asaad turned professional while still in his teenage years, becoming one of the youngest Jordanian and Palestinian fighters to enter the professional boxing environment.

Being young can attract attention, but it can also create pressure.

Professional opponents may have greater physical maturity, more experience and a deeper understanding of difficult moments inside the ring. A young fighter therefore needs more than confidence.

He needs patience.

Asaad began building his professional record while continuing to develop physically and mentally. Each fight became another opportunity to prove that his ambition was supported by real preparation.

The goal was no longer simply to participate.

He wanted to make a name for himself.

A Major WBC Moment Arrived in Dubai

September 18, 2026 became one of the most important nights of Asaad Touqan’s career.

Fighting in Dubai against Gaurav Bisht, Asaad competed for the WBC Asia Youth Super Middleweight championship.

He won.

The result placed a WBC affiliated title around the waist of a fighter who was still only 19 years old.

For Asaad, the championship represented much more than one successful night. More than ten years had passed since he first entered combat sports as an insecure eight year old.

The public saw the belt.

Behind it were years of training, competition, sacrifice and moments when progress probably felt much slower than the ambition driving him forward.

The victory gave his professional career a major new milestone, but it did not change the way he talks about the journey.

The process still matters more than one moment.

Building Success Across Two Boxing Worlds

Asaad’s current career also stands out because he has competed across traditional professional boxing and influencer boxing.

Alongside his WBC Asia Youth championship, he holds the ICB UAE Middleweight title.

These two environments operate differently.

Professional boxing follows an established structure built around sanctioned contests, records and championship pathways. Influencer boxing combines competition with entertainment, digital personalities and a younger online audience.

Asaad has found a place in both worlds.

That crossover gives him the chance to build credibility as a professional fighter while also connecting with audiences who may have discovered boxing through social media rather than traditional sporting channels.

For a 19 year old athlete, that combination could become an important part of his future identity.

The Goal Is Bigger Than Collecting Belts

Championships bring attention, but Asaad says his ambition goes beyond trophies.

He wants to make a name for himself and create change.

His Jordanian and Palestinian background gives his journey a connection to young Arab athletes who may see parts of themselves in his story.

The child who lacked confidence did not suddenly become fearless.

Confidence was built gradually through training, competition and learning to continue when things became difficult.

That transformation may eventually become as important as the championships themselves.

As his profile grows, Asaad also has the opportunity to show young people that insecurity does not have to define what comes next.

Trust the Process Defines His Mindset

One phrase sits at the heart of Asaad Touqan’s story.

Trust the process.

In boxing, that philosophy is tested constantly.

A fighter can spend months preparing for a contest that lasts only a few rounds. Injuries can interrupt training. Opponents can change. Opportunities can disappear, and victories can create even tougher challenges.

There is rarely a straight path.

Asaad has already spent more than half of his life developing through combat sports. His current success therefore did not appear overnight, even if championship headlines make it look that way.

The visible moment came in 2026.

The work began when he was eight.

Climbing the Mountain for Perspective

Another line Asaad lives by is equally revealing.

Climb the mountain to see the world, not for the world to see you.

For someone building a career during the social media era, the idea carries real meaning.

Athletes today are surrounded by followers, views, comments and constant public comparison. It can become easy to measure progress through attention instead of personal development.

Asaad’s philosophy suggests a different goal.

The climb should change the person making it.

Recognition may follow, but recognition should not become the only reason to keep moving.

The Next Chapter for Asaad Touqan

At 19, Asaad Touqan’s story is still much closer to the beginning than the end.

He has already built experience across Muay Thai, professional boxing and influencer boxing. He now holds a WBC Asia Youth title and an ICB UAE championship while continuing to develop his professional career from Dubai.

Success will bring new pressure.

Stronger opponents will come. Expectations will rise. Every victory will create questions about the next level.

But pressure is no longer unfamiliar to the child who once entered combat sports because he wanted confidence.

His message to people following the journey is simple. Support him or watch from the sidelines.

Asaad plans to continue climbing either way.

The mountain has become much bigger since he was eight years old, but so has the fighter climbing it.
