Building Platforms That Turn Purpose Into Impact
Some careers are built around a single profession. Others develop through different experiences that eventually come together around one clear purpose. For Prof Amb Dr Abhnash Bains, that purpose has increasingly become creating opportunities for people to connect, grow and contribute to meaningful change.

- The Next Chapter for Abhnash Bains
Her journey has moved through public service, education, counselling, entrepreneurship and community development. Rather than treating these areas as separate chapters, Abhnash has used the lessons from each one to shape a broader vision centred on people, leadership and social impact.
Today, much of her attention is focused on expanding Ishkama Global Change and strengthening initiatives that connect professionals, entrepreneurs, emerging leaders and changemakers across different communities and countries.
From Public Service to a Bigger Personal Mission
Abhnash did not begin her journey with a plan to build several platforms. Her direction developed gradually through years of working with people and understanding the challenges they experience in both their personal and professional lives.
Public service introduced her to the importance of responsibility and working for the wider community. Education showed her how knowledge can change confidence and opportunity. Counselling brought her closer to the human side of growth, while entrepreneurship taught her how ideas need structure, patience and action if they are going to create lasting results.
Together, those experiences encouraged Abhnash to think beyond conventional career boundaries.
She became increasingly interested in building environments where people could receive support but also become contributors themselves. That idea would eventually become an important part of the work she developed through Ishkama.
Building Ishkama Around People and Possibility
At the centre of Abhnash’s professional journey is Ishkama Ltd and the wider work connected to Ishkama Global Change CIC.
The goal goes beyond creating another professional network. Abhnash wants people from different industries, cultures and stages of their careers to meet, exchange ideas and discover opportunities to collaborate.
That approach has also influenced the development of IGC Magazine and Ishkama Radio. Through these platforms, professionals and changemakers are given space to share experiences, knowledge and ideas with wider audiences.
For Abhnash, storytelling matters because people often learn from seeing how others have handled challenges, changed direction or turned an idea into something meaningful.
Her work reflects a simple belief. When the right people are given a platform and an opportunity to connect, conversations can develop into collaborations and collaborations can eventually create impact.
A Leadership Philosophy Shaped by Giving Back
Professional success often gets measured through titles, organisations and recognition. Abhnash takes a wider view.
Her biggest learning has been that achievements become more valuable when they create opportunities for other people.
As she explains, “Success is not measured only by what we achieve for ourselves, but also by what we are able to give back to others.”
That belief runs through much of her work.
Relationships, resilience and integrity have become just as important to her as traditional professional milestones. She has also learned that challenges do not always have to stop progress. They can become moments that encourage people to adapt, reconsider their direction and develop new strengths.
It is a perspective shaped by experience rather than theory.
Abhnash Bains Creating Space for Emerging Leaders
One of Abhnash’s priorities now is supporting people who may have ambition and ideas but still need the right environment in which to develop them.
Emerging leaders and entrepreneurs are particularly important to her future plans.
She wants to create more spaces where people can build networks, learn from experienced professionals and gain the confidence needed to move their ideas forward. Responsible entrepreneurship is also part of that vision, with an emphasis on building businesses and initiatives that contribute positively to communities.
This makes mentorship and collaboration increasingly important.
Abhnash believes leadership should not simply be about holding a position. It should involve helping other people discover what they can contribute.
For younger professionals especially, access to the right conversation, introduction or opportunity can sometimes change the direction of an entire career.
Connecting People Across Borders
Another major part of Abhnash’s vision is international collaboration.
Through the organisations and platforms she has developed, she has worked to bring together professionals, entrepreneurs, community figures and changemakers from different countries and backgrounds.
The aim is not simply to create a large network. It is to build relationships that can produce useful conversations, partnerships and projects.
Abhnash sees particular value in creating stronger connections between the United Kingdom and international communities. As businesses, social initiatives and professional networks become increasingly global, she believes people need spaces where ideas can cross borders more easily.
Different industries may face different challenges, but themes such as leadership, wellbeing, entrepreneurship and community development are relevant almost everywhere.
Bringing those perspectives together can create new ways of approaching familiar problems.
Achievements That Go Beyond Recognition
Abhnash has built and developed several initiatives during her journey, including Ishkama Ltd, Ishkama Global Change CIC, IGC Magazine and Ishkama Radio.
Each platform serves a different purpose, but together they reflect her wider interest in connection and empowerment.
She is particularly proud of the opportunities these initiatives have created for people to share expertise, experiences and professional contributions.
However, Abhnash does not define achievement only through organisations or recognition.
For her, some of the most meaningful results are harder to measure. They include people who found confidence, professionals who made valuable connections and emerging leaders who were given an opportunity to be heard.
That human impact continues to influence how she thinks about growth.
Turning Challenges Into Opportunities
Abhnash’s journey has not been built around the idea that progress happens without difficulty.
Instead, resilience has become one of the values that defines her approach.
Different roles and experiences have required her to adapt, learn and continue moving forward. That has reinforced her belief that challenges can often reveal new possibilities.
It is also one of the messages she hopes emerging leaders take from her story.
A career does not always need to follow a straight path. Skills gained in one field can become useful years later in another. Experiences that initially appear disconnected can eventually become the foundation for something much bigger.
In Abhnash’s case, public service, counselling, education and entrepreneurship gradually came together around the same central purpose of helping people develop.
The Next Chapter for Abhnash Bains
Looking ahead, Abhnash wants to expand the reach of Ishkama Global Change while continuing to develop IGC Magazine and Ishkama Radio.
Her focus is on building sustainable platforms rather than short term initiatives. She wants the organisations she develops to continue connecting people, encouraging responsible entrepreneurship and giving emerging leaders opportunities to participate in meaningful conversations.
International partnerships will remain an important part of that direction.
Yet despite the growing reach of her work, the idea behind it remains straightforward.
Abhnash wants to create environments where people do more than exchange business cards or professional titles. She wants them to exchange experiences, ideas and opportunities that can eventually produce positive change.
Her journey shows how careers can evolve when experience is combined with purpose. What started as a desire to serve people has gradually developed into a wider mission of building platforms where people can grow together.
For Abhnash, the next stage is not simply about expanding organisations. It is about expanding the number of people who have the opportunity to turn their own ideas into meaningful action.
