With a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Cairo University, an MBA from the French University of ESLSCA and 42 sales courses completed throughout his career, Ahmed has continuously invested in his professional development. His experience now spans major companies, different sectors and thousands of sales professionals.
Today, as General Manager of Sales Development at Arma Company, a position he began in February 2025, Ahmed continues to focus on one of the areas that has defined his career from the beginning: building stronger sales people and stronger sales organisations.
From Early Sales Roles to a Long Term Career
Ahmed’s professional journey started while he was still studying. His early experiences included working in sales at the Egyptian European Group and Al-Momen for Inks and Printing. He also gained exposure to the banking sector through his work in the Letters of Guarantee department at Al-Mohandes Bank.
These early roles gave him an important understanding of business from different angles. Sales was not simply about making a transaction. It involved understanding products, customers, financial processes and business relationships.
His next major chapter came at Al-Israa Paints and Chemicals, where he spent five years in sales. This period helped him strengthen his understanding of customer needs and develop the practical skills required to build lasting commercial relationships.
Ahmed then moved to Arma Oils, where he worked for three years as a Key Account Sales Representative. Working with key accounts exposed him to a more strategic side of sales and helped prepare him for larger leadership responsibilities.
Growing Through Different Sales Leadership Roles
Ahmed’s career continued to expand at Afco Egypt, where he spent three years moving through several positions, including Key Account Sales Supervisor, Key Account Sales Manager and Key Account and Large Sales Manager.
The progression reflected more than a series of promotions. Each role brought new responsibilities and a wider understanding of how sales teams operate.
His next chapter was at Greenland, part of Americana, where he spent another three years working across key account, large and retail sales. He served as Regional Manager for Greater Cairo, Alexandria and the Delta before becoming General Sales Manager for the Ghee Branch.
Managing different regions and sales channels required the ability to understand different customer behaviours and market conditions. It also strengthened Ahmed’s ability to manage people while keeping commercial performance at the centre of decision making.
He later joined Cairo Oils and Soaps as Sales Development Manager, where he spent five years. This stage became another important part of his development as a sales leader because it moved his focus further toward improving sales systems, performance and people.
Leadership Built Through Thousands of People
One of the most remarkable parts of Ahmed’s career is the scale of people he has worked with and influenced.
Throughout his professional journey, he has worked under 19 managers and has been responsible for or worked with approximately 3,400 sales personnel. Among them, 330 people progressed into leadership positions such as supervisors, sector managers, branch managers, regional managers, general sales managers and commercial managers.
At his last company alone, around 90 people moved forward in their careers.
These numbers reveal an important part of Ahmed’s professional philosophy. His impact cannot be measured only by his own job titles. It can also be seen through the careers of the people who worked alongside him.
A strong sales leader does not simply chase targets. The real test is whether the people around that leader become more capable, confident and prepared to take responsibility.
The Managers Who Shaped His Thinking
Ahmed’s leadership style has also been influenced by the managers and mentors he encountered throughout his career.
Five figures stand out as particularly influential in his professional life: Professor Gamal Aref, Professor Mohamed Talaat, Professor El-Husseini Moqalled, Professor Karim El-Kashki and Professor Mortada Eissa.
Working under different leaders exposed Ahmed to different management styles, ways of thinking and approaches to business.
Those experiences helped him understand that leadership is not built from one formula. It develops through observation, experience, mistakes, learning and the ability to recognise what works in different situations.
His own career later gave him the opportunity to pass those lessons to the people he managed.
A Career Measured in More Than Sales
Over the years, the total sales volume connected to Ahmed’s professional journey reached approximately 59 billion Egyptian pounds.
While such a figure demonstrates significant commercial responsibility, the human side of the achievement is equally important.
Sales is one of the most competitive areas of business. Targets change, customers change, markets move and companies constantly look for better ways to perform. For someone to remain active and successful in the field for 31 years requires more than selling ability. It requires resilience and a willingness to keep learning.
Ahmed’s completion of 42 different sales courses reflects that mindset.
His career demonstrates a simple principle: strong sales performance is created by people who understand customers, develop their skills and remain willing to learn.
Eleven Years at Ayman Effendi
One of the longest chapters of Ahmed’s professional journey was his time with Ayman Effendi Company, where he served as General Sales Manager for 11 years.
Long term leadership roles provide an opportunity to do more than achieve short term targets. They allow a manager to understand an organisation deeply, build teams, develop future leaders and create systems that can continue working over time.
For Ahmed, this period also became an important part of his leadership legacy. His work with sales teams helped many professionals move toward higher positions and greater responsibility.
The experience eventually prepared him for another significant chapter with Arma.
Ahmed Abdel Salam Returning to Arma With Greater Experience
In February 2025, Ahmed began working as General Manager of Sales Development at Arma Company.
His return to Arma represents more than another career move. He returned with decades of experience across key accounts, retail, regional management, general sales management and sales development.
The role allows him to bring together lessons gathered from different companies and different generations of sales professionals.
It also places him in a position where his experience can contribute to the development of future sales leaders.
Taking Sales Conversations to the Radio and Podcast World
Ahmed’s influence has not remained limited to corporate offices and sales teams.
For the last four years, alongside his work with Ayman Effendi and Arma, he has also been involved with Cairo Business Radio as a presenter.
He presented El-Hadaf, a program focused on sales and marketing, and Supermarket, which explored the supermarket and chain industry in Egypt.
With the channel reaching around 500,000 listeners, this work gave Ahmed another platform through which he could share his knowledge and discuss the realities of the business world.
El-Hadaf has since evolved from a radio program into a video podcast, creating a modern format for conversations around sales, marketing and professional growth.
This transition reflects something that has been consistent throughout Ahmed’s career: the willingness to adapt.
What Comes Next for Ahmed
After 31 years in sales, Ahmed Abdel Salam’s journey is still moving forward.
His current work at Arma places him at the intersection of experience, leadership and sales development. At the same time, his involvement in media allows him to communicate lessons from the field to a wider audience.
His story offers an important reminder that professional success is not always created through one major achievement. Sometimes it is built through thousands of conversations, years of learning, difficult targets, changing companies, supportive mentors and the growth of people who work alongside you.
For Ahmed, the next chapter is not simply about continuing a successful career. It is about using three decades of experience to help shape the next generation of sales professionals.
His journey shows that sales can become more than a profession. With the right mindset, it can become a platform for leadership, mentorship and lasting impact.
