A Woman Who Refused to Be Defined by One Profession

Some people build their careers around one ambition. Others discover that their purpose is much bigger than a single profession. Karen Boustany belongs to the second group.

A Lebanese international writer, journalist, political analyst, entrepreneur, media personality, and philanthropist, Karen has spent more than two decades building a career that connects communication, culture, business, and public service.

From interviewing influential personalities to creating international business opportunities and supporting humanitarian initiatives, her journey reflects determination, independence, compassion, and a deep commitment to her homeland.

Today, as CEO of The Luxury Network Lebanon and founder and CEO of Eyestrategy Business Communication, Karen continues to bring people together through meaningful conversations, strategic partnerships, cultural initiatives, and philanthropic efforts.

Yet behind her professional accomplishments lies a more personal story. It is the story of a woman who built her own path, embraced the responsibilities of motherhood, supported vulnerable communities, and refused to let challenges weaken her ambitions.

From Sorbonne Classrooms to an International Media Career

Karen’s journey began with a love for literature, communication, and understanding human experiences.

Her education at Sorbonne Paris 4 strengthened her intellectual curiosity and appreciation for French literature and culture. Writing became more than a creative interest. It became a way to explore society, express ideas, and connect with people.

As a Francophone author and poet, Karen published two books that were subsequently translated into other languages. Her involvement in literary initiatives in Lebanon and France further developed her international perspective.

However, her ambitions extended beyond literature.

She wanted to understand the people shaping society, the decisions influencing nations, and the experiences connecting Lebanese communities across the world.

This curiosity eventually guided her toward journalism, television, and political research.

The Television Journey That Connected Lebanese Communities Worldwide

When Karen entered television in 2009, she discovered a powerful platform for sharing stories that deserved international attention.

Throughout her media career, she has interviewed more than 600 successful Lebanese expatriates and personalities worldwide, including business leaders, academics, doctors, judges, and political figures.

Each conversation offered an opportunity to celebrate Lebanese achievement beyond geographical borders.

Her cultural television work also included interviews with more than 1,800 international writers, allowing her to explore different literary traditions and intellectual perspectives.

For Karen, journalism has never been simply about asking questions.

It is about listening carefully, understanding experiences, and helping audiences discover the human stories behind public achievements.

Her interviews have strengthened her belief that Lebanon’s greatest resource is its people, whose contributions continue to influence communities around the world.

Building a Powerful Presence in Business and Luxury Networking

Long before becoming an established media personality, Karen demonstrated her entrepreneurial instincts by founding her own advertising, marketing, and communication company at a young age.

That early decision reflected her desire for independence and her confidence in building opportunities rather than waiting for them.

Through Eyestrategy Business Communication, she developed her involvement in strategic communication and business relationships.

Her leadership later expanded into the luxury sector through The Luxury Network Lebanon, an international business and luxury networking organization.

As CEO, Karen works to connect entrepreneurs, luxury brands, influential personalities, and international business communities.

Her activities include corporate gatherings, luxury networking experiences, and international cigar events that introduce distinguished guests to Lebanon.

Beyond their commercial importance, these occasions serve a larger purpose.

Karen wants international visitors to experience Lebanon’s hospitality, creativity, culture, and business potential.

For her, luxury is not simply about exclusivity. It is also about creating valuable relationships and memorable experiences.

Entering Politics With Courage and Conviction

Karen’s interest in politics developed from her concern for Lebanon’s future and her belief in national sovereignty, freedom, and democratic values.

Rather than remaining only a political observer, she chose to participate directly in public life.

In 2022, she became a candidate in Lebanon’s parliamentary elections, marking an important milestone in her political journey.

Her involvement reflects her determination to contribute to national discussions and advocate for the principles she considers essential to Lebanon’s progress.

Karen believes that meaningful leadership requires responsibility, integrity, and the courage to defend one’s convictions.

Her political engagement remains connected to her wider mission of encouraging dialogue, education, and public awareness.

Although political life presents difficult challenges, she continues to believe that positive change begins with individuals willing to take responsibility.

The Personal Strength Behind Her Professional Achievements

Behind Karen’s public achievements is a deeply personal accomplishment that holds exceptional meaning for her.

As a single mother, she balanced professional responsibilities with raising her son, navigating the demands of family life while building an international career.

She considers watching him grow into a successful, respectful, and accomplished gentleman among her greatest achievements.

Her experience reflects a reality familiar to many ambitious women who carry professional dreams alongside personal responsibilities.

Karen’s journey has not been without setbacks, but she believes difficulties can strengthen character without diminishing compassion.

Her guiding philosophy is captured in a powerful statement.

“The love of life is stronger than the fear of death.”

For Karen, courage means continuing to pursue meaningful goals even when circumstances are uncertain.

Seventeen International Awards and a Lifelong Commitment to Philanthropy

Karen’s professional journey has brought international recognition, including 17 awards acknowledging her work and accomplishments.

Yet she believes recognition carries greater meaning when it creates opportunities to help others.

Her philanthropic work is an important part of her identity, reflecting a longstanding commitment to healthcare, education, humanitarian assistance, and the well-being of Lebanese communities.

Co-Founding the Lebanese ALS Association in 2015

In 2015, Karen co-founded the Lebanese ALS Association, described as the first association of its kind in the Middle East, alongside Dr. Jamil Zogheib, a pediatrician who was himself living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The association was established to support people affected by ALS, a progressive neurological disease that affects the nerve cells responsible for voluntary muscle movement.

Dr. Zogheib’s personal journey became an extraordinary example of human determination. Despite the physical limitations caused by ALS, he wrote ten books using an eye-tracking device that allowed him to communicate and express his thoughts through eye movements.

His remarkable story also inspired the film Jamil, a Flying Soul, a project Karen helped bring to life to share his experience with a wider audience.

The film highlighted the power of resilience, creativity, and the human spirit in the face of severe physical challenges.

For Karen, this initiative represented more than charitable involvement. It reflected her belief that every individual deserves dignity, recognition, and the opportunity to have their voice heard, regardless of their circumstances.

Founding LINK to Connect Lebanese Communities Worldwide

In 2017, Karen founded LINK (Lebanese International Network Association), an initiative dedicated to connecting successful Lebanese individuals and building a strong international network based on collaboration, solidarity, and shared responsibility.

Through LINK, she sought to bring together Lebanese professionals, entrepreneurs, and influential personalities who could contribute their knowledge, experience, and resources to the development of their homeland.

Education became one of the initiative’s important priorities.

Karen has helped create educational opportunities for younger generations by facilitating scholarships and supporting students in their academic development.

Her belief is that education provides young people with the knowledge, confidence, and opportunities needed to build better futures for themselves and their communities.

Supporting Families Through Lebanon’s Most Difficult Crises

Karen’s humanitarian commitment has also extended to families facing extraordinary hardship.

During Lebanon’s economic crisis in 2019, she provided assistance to families struggling with financial instability and increasing uncertainty.

When the COVID-19 pandemic created additional challenges, her philanthropic involvement continued, reflecting her concern for vulnerable individuals and communities.

Following the devastating Beirut Port explosion in August 2020, she also extended support to families affected by the tragedy.

These efforts reflect her understanding that philanthropy is not limited to establishing organizations or participating in charitable events. It also requires responding when communities face urgent and unexpected difficulties.

Her humanitarian activities continue today, with a focus on empowering communities, supporting vulnerable families, and creating opportunities for a more hopeful future.

Through the Lebanese ALS Association and LINK, Karen has demonstrated that leadership can create meaningful social impact when professional influence is combined with compassion and responsibility.

A Vision for Lebanon That Goes Beyond Persona6l Success

Today, Karen’s ambitions remain closely connected to Lebanon’s future.

Through media, entrepreneurship, literature, philanthropy, and public engagement, she wants to promote a country recognized for its cultural richness, intellectual talent, and extraordinary people.

She believes Lebanon deserves to be seen internationally for more than its political and economic challenges.

Her vision includes stronger international relationships, greater opportunities for young people, and a society built upon dignity, education, justice, and freedom.

Her work through LINK and the Lebanese ALS Association reinforces this vision by connecting international Lebanese communities while addressing important educational, healthcare, and humanitarian needs.

Karen also hopes to encourage women to pursue leadership without allowing social expectations or professional obstacles to limit their potential.

Her continuing work across several industries demonstrates her belief that leadership should create connections between people, ideas, and opportunities.

Karen Boustany’s Message to the Next Generation

Karen’s story offers an important reminder that success does not require following a conventional path.

A person can be an entrepreneur, a writer, a public voice, a philanthropist, and a devoted parent while remaining faithful to personal values.

She encourages young people to work passionately, believe in their abilities, and never sacrifice integrity for recognition.

Her journey continues to be guided by faith, resilience, compassion, and love for Lebanon.

For Karen, the greatest legacy is not the number of awards received or professional positions held.

It is the positive difference created in other people’s lives.

From supporting ALS patients and helping students access educational opportunities to assisting families during national crises, her philanthropic work demonstrates how personal achievement can become a source of hope for others.

And as she continues building bridges between Lebanon and the wider world, her story reminds us that the most meaningful achievements are those that leave society stronger, more hopeful, and better prepared for the future.
