His journey started in Cairo, where he joined Marriott Hotel Omar Al Khayam as a trainee server while completing his studies. What began as an opportunity to gain practical experience gradually introduced him to an industry built around people, service, communication and attention to detail.
Years later, Moustafa has built a career across some of the hospitality industry’s well known international brands, moving from front office roles into sales management and eventually taking on leadership responsibilities in Abu Dhabi.
His story is not simply about moving from one position to another. It is about recognizing strengths, pursuing opportunities and remaining ambitious enough to keep moving forward.
Learning Hospitality From the Ground Up
Moustafa’s early experience gave him something that cannot always be learned in a classroom: a direct understanding of the guest experience.
Working at the front line meant interacting with guests, understanding their expectations and learning how small details could influence the overall impression of a hotel. These experiences helped him develop communication skills and a natural understanding of customer needs.
After completing his graduation, Moustafa continued his professional journey with Fairmont Hotels as a receptionist. The role brought a new level of responsibility and exposed him to the operational side of a luxury hospitality environment.
Instead of viewing reception as simply a job, he treated it as an opportunity to understand how a hotel functions and how guests make decisions.
That mindset would eventually play an important role in his transition toward sales.
The Skill That Opened the Door to Sales
Moustafa had always been interested in the commercial side of hospitality. While working at reception, he discovered that he had a particular strength in upselling.
Being recognized as a top upseller gave him confidence that his skills could extend beyond front office operations. He was comfortable speaking with guests, understanding what they wanted and presenting additional services in a way that created value.
For Moustafa, sales was not about simply convincing someone to buy something. It was about understanding people.
That realization became a turning point.
When he moved to Dubai, he continued working with Fairmont in a receptionist role. Dubai’s highly competitive hospitality environment exposed him to a fast moving market where international standards, guest expectations and commercial performance are closely connected.
Rather than remaining comfortable in his existing position, Moustafa continued looking for a path into sales.
His ambition eventually paid off when he successfully moved into the sales department with Marriott’s head office in Dubai.
Moustafa Mohsen Building a Career Through Consistency
The transition from front office to sales represented more than a change in job title. It required Moustafa to develop an entirely different set of professional skills.
Sales in hospitality demands relationship building, negotiation, market awareness, communication and the ability to understand changing customer expectations. It also requires resilience because success often depends on consistent performance over time.
Moustafa embraced that challenge.
His experience working directly with guests provided him with a strong foundation. He understood hospitality from the customer’s perspective, while his growing sales expertise helped him understand the business side of the industry.
His career progressed further when he returned to Fairmont, this time as a Sales Manager.
The move demonstrated the value of persistence. The role he had once hoped to enter had gradually become the area in which he was building his professional identity.
Dubai Became an Important Chapter
Dubai played a significant role in Moustafa’s career development.
Moving from Cairo to Dubai required adaptability, confidence and the willingness to build a professional network in a highly international environment. For someone working in hospitality, Dubai also provided exposure to guests, businesses and colleagues from different cultures and backgrounds.
That diversity helped shape his approach to sales.
Moustafa learned that successful hospitality is rarely based on a single formula. Every guest, client and business relationship can have different expectations. The ability to listen, adapt and create meaningful connections can therefore become one of the most valuable skills a hospitality professional can develop.
His Dubai experience ultimately became an important foundation for the leadership role he holds today.
Leading Sales in Abu Dhabi
Moustafa currently works as a Sales Manager at Le Royal Meridien Abu Dhabi, where his experience across hospitality operations and sales comes together.
His responsibilities require him to focus on revenue generation while maintaining the service standards expected from an international hotel environment.
For Moustafa, professional success is closely connected to guest satisfaction. A strong sales result means little if it does not contribute to a positive customer experience.
This balance between commercial performance and hospitality remains central to his professional philosophy.
With eight years of experience in the hospitality sector, Moustafa has developed an understanding of how sales, service and relationships can work together. His career also reflects an important lesson for young professionals: sometimes the role that seems like a starting point can become the foundation for a much bigger career.
Consistency and Ambition as Personal Principles
When asked about the qualities that have shaped his journey, Moustafa points to two simple principles: consistency and ambition.
Neither requires complicated strategies, but both demand discipline.
Consistency has helped him continue developing even when progress was gradual. Ambition has encouraged him to pursue opportunities outside his comfort zone, including his move from reception into sales.
Together, these qualities have allowed him to turn career goals into measurable progress.
His journey also shows why professional growth does not always happen through a perfectly planned route. Sometimes it comes from recognizing an unexpected strength and having the courage to follow it.
For Moustafa, that strength was sales.
A Future Focused on General Management
While Moustafa has already achieved several important milestones, he sees his current position as another stage in a much longer journey.
His long term ambition is to become a General Manager with one of the world’s international hotel brands.
The goal reflects the broader direction of his career. Having experienced hospitality from the operational side, front office and sales, Moustafa is building a diverse understanding of the hotel business.
General management requires more than knowledge of one department. It demands leadership, commercial awareness, operational understanding and the ability to bring people together around a common objective.
His previous experiences can provide valuable preparation for that responsibility.
The journey toward becoming a GM may still have many chapters ahead, but Moustafa’s career so far suggests that he is prepared to keep learning and progressing.
Success Beyond the Workplace
For Moustafa, career ambition is important, but it is not the only measure of a successful life.
He believes in maintaining a balance between career progression and family orientation. That perspective adds another dimension to his professional journey.
Hospitality can be demanding, particularly for professionals working in management and sales. Long hours, changing schedules, client expectations and constant performance pressures are part of the industry.
Maintaining a sense of balance therefore becomes essential.
Moustafa’s approach reflects the idea that professional achievement should complement personal life rather than completely replace it. His ambitions are significant, but so is his desire to remain connected to the people and values that matter outside the workplace.
An Inspiring Journey Still in Progress
Moustafa Mohsen’s story is ultimately about growth.
From serving guests as a trainee in Cairo to working behind the front desk, moving across borders, entering sales and progressing into management, his career has been shaped by a willingness to learn and an unwillingness to remain stationary.
His journey demonstrates how ambition can evolve through experience. A young hospitality professional who discovered his talent for upselling eventually found his place within hotel sales and began building toward a larger leadership vision.
Today, as a Sales Manager in Abu Dhabi, Moustafa continues to focus on performance, relationships and guest satisfaction while preparing for the next stage of his career.
His ultimate goal of becoming a General Manager remains ahead, but perhaps that is what makes his story compelling. His journey is not being presented as a finished success story.
It is still being written.
And if his past is any indication, consistency, ambition and a genuine understanding of hospitality will continue to guide the next chapter.
