Ziad Raphael Nassar Builds a Powerful World Beyond Luxury Weddings

Ziad Raphael Nassar has spent more than two decades proving that a wedding can be much more than a beautiful celebration. For him, a successful event is about emotion, atmosphere and storytelling. That philosophy has helped the Lebanese entrepreneur and designer build a career that now stretches across luxury weddings, entertainment, large scale events and interior objects.

Known as a Créateur d’Ambiance, Nassar has developed a creative identity around transforming spaces into experiences. His work is often dramatic and visually ambitious, but the foundation is deeply personal. He begins with the people, their story and the feeling they want guests to remember.

A Creative Foundation Built Before the Wedding Industry

Long before weddings became his professional world, Ziad developed his eye through art and design. Born in Byblos, Lebanon, he studied visual arts at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts, known as ALBA. He later worked as a graphic designer and creative director.

Those early years gave him a strong understanding of composition, colour, scale and visual communication. They also taught him that design is not only about making something attractive. Every element has to work together to communicate an idea.

That mindset would eventually become central to his event work. A venue could become a canvas. Lighting, flowers, music, architecture and movement could all work together to create one complete experience.

One Wedding Changed Ziad Raphael Nassar’s Direction

The major turning point arrived in 2004 when Ziad designed his best friend’s wedding. What began as something personal became the beginning of a completely different professional path.

The celebration allowed him to bring together the skills he had developed through art, advertising and creative direction. Instead of designing a page or campaign, he could shape an entire environment and guide how people experienced it.

The response opened his eyes to what wedding design could become. He moved deeper into the field and eventually established Once, his wedding planning and design company, after returning to Lebanon in 2007.

Listening Became the Starting Point of His Design Process

Luxury wedding design can easily become focused on size, decoration and spectacle. Ziad has repeatedly described a different starting point.

He begins with the couple and their story.

Their memories, personalities, cultures and preferences can influence everything from the concept and colour palette to lighting, music and the overall mood of the celebration. This is why his work often feels theatrical without becoming disconnected from the people at the centre of it.

For Ziad, no two weddings should feel the same because no two couples share exactly the same story. That refusal to repeat himself has become an important part of his creative identity.

Royal Weddings and Major Celebrations Expanded His Reputation

As his career developed, Ziad began designing celebrations for high profile families and clients across the Middle East and beyond. His portfolio has included royal weddings and large luxury events, helping establish his reputation in a highly competitive industry.

One of his widely recognized projects was the three day wedding celebration of Elie Saab Jr. and Christina Mourad in Lebanon in 2019. Different stages of the celebration carried distinct visual identities while remaining connected to the couple, their families and Lebanese culture.

Projects of this scale demand more than creativity. They require coordination between designers, production teams, suppliers, technical crews and venues. A concept must still work when hundreds of people enter the space.

Assouline Turned His Wedding Designs Into a Lasting Record

A major milestone arrived in 2012 when luxury publisher Assouline released Once Weddings, a coffee table book dedicated to Ziad’s work.

The book collected more than one hundred wedding designs and presented them as creative works rather than temporary decorations. It was an important moment because events normally disappear once the final guest leaves. Photography and publishing gave those environments a longer life.

For Ziad, the book also represented recognition beyond the wedding industry. His designs could be viewed through the same lens as art, architecture, interiors and luxury design.

Ziad Raphael Nassar Expanded Beyond Weddings

Although weddings remain central to his name, Ziad has continued pushing his work into other areas.

In 2022, he launched a home accessories collection through Ambiance, extending his interest in atmosphere into objects designed for everyday spaces. The move made sense for someone whose career had always been about how people feel inside an environment.

His business world has also expanded through ZRN into entertainment, production and large scale event management. The wider group has been involved in corporate, cultural and international projects, including work connected with Expo 2020 Dubai and the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

This evolution shows that his creative thinking is no longer limited to private celebrations. The same focus on storytelling, visual impact and guest experience can be applied to a wedding, a public event or a branded environment.

Technology Is Becoming Part of His Creative Language

Ziad has also shown interest in digital design, virtual experiences and artificial intelligence. Rather than treating technology as a replacement for creativity, he has spoken about using it as another tool for telling a story.

That approach reflects the larger change taking place across luxury events. Guests increasingly expect immersive experiences, interactive visuals and environments that feel different from what they have already seen online.

Yet his philosophy remains focused on emotion. Technology has value when it strengthens the experience, not when it becomes the experience itself.

A Career Built Around Creating a Feeling

Ziad Raphael Nassar’s journey is not simply a story about luxury weddings. It is a story about turning artistic training into an entrepreneurial career and then continuing to expand that career without losing the original creative idea.

From visual arts and advertising to a friend’s wedding, royal celebrations, books, home design and large scale events, each chapter has added another dimension to his work.

His title, Créateur d’Ambiance, captures that evolution well. He is not only arranging flowers or planning timelines. His larger aim is to create a world that people can enter for a few hours and remember long after it disappears.

For young creatives and entrepreneurs, his path offers an important lesson. Careers do not always begin with a perfect plan. Sometimes one unexpected project reveals a direction that was impossible to see before.

For Ziad, that project was a wedding. What followed became a creative business built around imagination, discipline and the belief that the strongest luxury experiences are the ones that make people feel something.
