With more than two decades of experience across higher education, branding, public relations, media, fashion, and creative communications, Bethoven has built a career that extends far beyond the classroom. Every successful career begins with a single decision. For Bethoven, that journey started in the Philippines, where he spent ten years working as a high school teacher in a private institution. Those early years helped him understand the importance of mentorship and the lasting influence teachers have on their students.
In 2014, he made a life changing decision to move to the United Arab Emirates in search of greater opportunities. Like many overseas professionals, he started a new chapter with determination and optimism. His first role in Dubai was teaching at a Filipino school, but he knew his long term goal was to establish himself in higher education.
Rather than waiting for opportunities, Bethoven invested in continuous learning and professional development. By 2017, he had successfully transitioned into higher education, teaching at several universities across Dubai and Sharjah before joining De Montfort University Dubai. His journey proves that career growth often comes from persistence, lifelong learning, and the courage to embrace change.
Connecting Education With Industry
One of Bethoven’s greatest strengths is his ability to bridge academic learning with real world industry experience.
As Deputy Program Leader and Lecturer, he teaches advertising, branding, digital marketing, marketing communications, and public relations. His classroom is designed to prepare students for the professional world rather than simply helping them pass examinations.
Because he continues to work as a creative communications practitioner, his students benefit from current industry knowledge, practical case studies, and real business insights. His experience in branding strategy, magazine publishing, creative direction, photography, and public relations enables him to create lessons that are both engaging and relevant.
His commitment to strengthening industry and academic collaboration has also earned him recognition as one of the pioneering Academic Advisory Board members of Dubai Lynx, an initiative that brings universities and the creative industry together across the MENA region.

Throughout his career, he has remained deeply involved in the creative industries. His work spans branding, fashion photography, public relations, media production, and marketing communications. These experiences allow him to continuously refine his creative skills while staying connected to industry developments.
His photography and creative work have also received recognition from respected organizations including Dubai Culture and the Hamdan International Photography Award, highlighting his contribution to visual storytelling and cultural dialogue. As the Head of TRIBE Creatives and Communications Collective, he works to empower Filipino creatives across the Gulf region by creating networking opportunities, mentorship programs, professional collaborations, and industry partnerships.
His goal is simple yet impactful. He wants talented professionals to connect with one another, develop their skills, and create meaningful careers while contributing to their communities.
This commitment to service has become one of the defining characteristics of his leadership. Instead of focusing only on personal success, he continues to create opportunities that help others grow alongside him.

He has been named among the Top 300 Most Influential Filipinos in the Gulf in the Thought Leaders category by Illustrado Magazine. He also received the Excellence in Teaching in Higher Education award from the Filipino Social Club and was honored as an Outstanding Alumni of the Philippine Normal University under the Culture and Arts category.
