Recognizing the growing demand for digital property solutions, Ismael launched Sarouty.ma, an online real estate marketplace that simplified property buying, selling, and renting across Morocco.
Within only two years, the platform became one of the country’s leading real estate marketplaces. Its impressive growth attracted the attention of Property Finder Dubai, leading to a strategic partnership that strengthened the company’s technology and market reach. This milestone further established Ismael’s reputation as an entrepreneur capable of building businesses with lasting value and strong market potential.

In 2020, while much of the world was facing uncertainty, Ismael and his wife, Sophia Alj, saw an opportunity to help small retailers modernize their businesses. Together they founded Chari, a B2B e commerce and fintech platform designed to simplify inventory management, logistics, and financial services for neighborhood stores.
Their vision extended far beyond online ordering. They wanted to give traditional retailers access to technology that could help them compete more effectively in a rapidly changing economy. The company secured backing from Y Combinator along with investments involving major global institutions and investors, including Orange Ventures, Airbnb affiliated investors, and Harvard University’s investment management company. Harvard Business School also developed a business case study highlighting Chari’s business model and growth, reflecting its significance within Africa’s startup ecosystem.
This recognition was not simply about raising investment. It demonstrated that innovative companies emerging from Morocco could compete on a global stage while attracting world class partners and investors.
