For Aditya Seth, this understanding has become the foundation of a steadily evolving career in hospitality, catering sales, event planning, and client relations. Based in Dubai, Aditya has built his professional journey across different areas of the hospitality industry, gaining experience that has allowed him to understand both the operational and commercial sides of creating exceptional guest experiences.
Today, as an Assistant Manager, Catering Sales and Planning, he brings together years of hospitality exposure, international education, sales experience, and hands-on event knowledge in a role that places client expectations at the centre of his work.
His journey reflects the value of learning from different departments, embracing international exposure, and continuously developing the skills required to succeed in Dubai’s highly competitive hospitality and catering landscape.
Building a Strong Foundation in Hospitality
Aditya’s professional story began with a strong academic foundation in tourism and hospitality. He completed his Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Studies from IGNOU and also pursued a Diploma in Hotel Management from the International Institute of Hotel Management in Bangalore.
These formative years introduced him to the many disciplines that operate behind successful hospitality businesses. From guest service and food and beverage to operations, event coordination, and management, Aditya developed an appreciation for the fact that hospitality extends far beyond what guests see.
The experience behind the scenes is equally important.
His education later took him to Spain, where he pursued a Master’s in International Hotel Management at Les Roches in Marbella. Studying in an international environment expanded his understanding of hospitality while exposing him to different approaches to service, management, guest expectations, and operational standards.
This combination of Indian and international education provided a strong platform for his professional development and eventually prepared him for a career in Dubai.
Learning Hospitality From Different Perspectives
A defining feature of Aditya’s career has been his willingness to understand hospitality from multiple perspectives.
His experience has included exposure to food and beverage service, kitchen operations, front office, housekeeping, sales and marketing, and human resources. This cross-departmental experience has helped him understand how closely connected different functions are when delivering a seamless guest experience.
His internship with The Oberoi provided valuable early exposure to hospitality operations and event coordination in India.
Later, during his time at Les Roches, he gained practical experience in restaurant service, kitchen operations, event logistics, and event execution. These opportunities strengthened his understanding of timing, teamwork, service standards, and operational discipline.
Instead of seeing each department as an isolated function, Aditya learned how different teams contribute to the same objective: delivering an experience that meets and exceeds expectations.
That understanding has become particularly valuable as his career has developed toward catering sales and planning.
Dubai: The Next Chapter of His Career
Dubai became the next important chapter in Aditya’s professional journey.
The city’s international hospitality industry offered an environment where he could apply his education and previous experience while working with a diverse range of guests and clients.
His professional journey included a Management Trainee role at Grand Hyatt Dubai, where he completed a rotational programme involving key hospitality functions, including Food and Beverage and Event Sales and Planning.
This experience gave him greater exposure to meetings, conferences, banquets, and events while allowing him to understand the expectations of both corporate and social clients.
For Aditya, the experience was an opportunity to see how hospitality works from the inside, from the initial client interaction and proposal stage through planning, coordination, execution, and post-event follow-up.
It also introduced him more closely to the commercial side of the industry, where client relationships, sales opportunities, operational requirements, and service quality must work together.
From Event Sales to Catering Sales and Planning
Aditya began his journey in catering sales as a Management Trainee (MIT), gaining practical experience in client management, catering enquiries, proposals, and event coordination. After one year, he transitioned into a full-time Catering Sales and Planning Executive role, taking on greater responsibility across sales, client relationships, negotiations, and event planning.
This experience strengthened his understanding that successful catering sales go beyond closing deals. It requires understanding client needs, developing suitable solutions, clear communication, and close coordination with operational teams.
His continued growth and experience eventually led him to his current position as Assistant Manager in Catering Sales, marking another step forward in his hospitality career.
Stepping Into Assistant Manager, Catering Sales and Planning
Aditya’s professional progression reached another important stage in May 2025, when he moved into his current position as Assistant Manager, Catering Sales and Planning.
The role represents a natural progression from his earlier experience in event sales and planning while bringing his focus more directly toward catering and client-focused hospitality solutions.
At this level, Aditya’s work combines sales, client relationships, planning, coordination, and operational understanding.
Catering sales requires a strong ability to understand what clients are looking for and translate those expectations into well-planned experiences. Every client may have different requirements, objectives, preferences, budgets, and expectations.
Understanding those differences is essential.
Aditya’s previous exposure to food and beverage, event operations, hospitality service, and sales provides him with a broader perspective when approaching these requirements.
His role also involves maintaining strong client relationships and supporting the planning process, ensuring that the details discussed during the sales stage can be effectively translated into execution.
This ability to connect the commercial and operational sides of hospitality has become an important part of his professional identity.
Where Catering Sales Meets Planning
Catering sales is often associated primarily with business development, but the role involves much more than achieving sales targets.
At its heart is the ability to understand people.
A client may know what kind of occasion they want but may not always know how to translate that vision into practical requirements. This is where a strong catering professional adds value.
Aditya’s experience has taught him to approach each requirement from different angles.
What does the client want?
What will create the right experience?
What does the operation require?
How can expectations be managed realistically?
And how can different teams work together to deliver the final result?
These questions sit at the centre of effective catering sales and planning.
His background across hospitality departments allows him to appreciate the importance of communication between sales, food and beverage, operations, audiovisual teams, and other supporting functions.
The result is a more complete understanding of the client journey.
Aditya Seth Developing a Commercial Mindset
As Aditya has progressed through his career, his responsibilities have also given him greater exposure to the commercial side of hospitality.
Alongside client-facing responsibilities, his experience includes revenue reporting and working with monthly profit and loss and revenue sheets.
This has helped him understand that hospitality is ultimately a balance between service excellence and business performance.
Creating an impressive experience is important, but successful hospitality businesses must also operate efficiently, understand revenue, manage resources, and maintain commercial sustainability.
For Aditya, this broader perspective has been an important part of his growth from a hospitality professional into a sales and planning specialist.
It allows him to look at a client requirement not only from the perspective of service, but also from the perspective of business value and operational feasibility.
International Exposure Shaping His Approach
Aditya’s perspective has also been shaped by his international exposure.
His education in Spain, hospitality experience in India, and professional career in Dubai have given him the opportunity to experience different service environments and work with diverse expectations.
His language abilities add another dimension to this international outlook. He speaks English and Hindi fluently and has also developed basic Spanish skills.
In hospitality and catering, cultural awareness can be especially valuable.
Clients come from different backgrounds, and each may have different expectations regarding communication, service, food, event style, and overall experience.
Aditya’s international exposure has therefore contributed not only to his professional qualifications but also to his ability to approach hospitality as a global industry.
Continuous Learning Beyond the Job
Aditya’s professional development has never been limited to his formal job responsibilities.
His interest in hospitality has encouraged him to continue developing knowledge in areas that complement his career.
His experience includes wine education through the Wine and Spirit Education Trust and South African wine education, as well as BarSmart certification. He has also trained in bartending under Jatin Puri, an Asia Top 50 mixologist, and completed certification courses associated with Bombay Sapphire and Bacardi.
These experiences demonstrate his curiosity about the wider hospitality ecosystem.
Understanding beverages, service, food and beverage operations, event execution, sales, and guest experience can all contribute to becoming a more capable hospitality professional.
For someone working in catering sales and planning, this broader understanding can help create more informed conversations with clients and colleagues.
Outside the workplace, Aditya enjoys travelling, football, cricket, photography, and gaming, interests that provide a balance to the fast-paced demands of hospitality.
The Road Ahead
Aditya Seth’s professional journey continues to evolve, but its direction is increasingly clear.
From tourism and hotel management education in India to international studies in Spain and professional experience in Dubai, he has steadily developed toward a career combining hospitality, sales, catering, planning, and client experience.
His journey has not been defined by one role or one achievement. Instead, it has been shaped by continuous learning and exposure to different sides of the hospitality industry.
Today, his position as Assistant Manager, Catering Sales and Planning represents another step in that progression.
Dubai’s hospitality sector continues to bring together international guests, businesses, celebrations, and experiences, creating an environment where professionals who understand both people and business can make a meaningful difference.
Aditya’s experience across hospitality operations and sales gives him a strong foundation for the opportunities ahead.
His story also offers a valuable lesson for aspiring hospitality professionals. A successful career is rarely built through one major opportunity alone. It develops through exposure, consistency, learning, adaptability, and the willingness to understand every part of the industry.
For Aditya, the next chapter is about building on everything he has learned so far, strengthening client relationships, developing his expertise in catering sales and planning, and continuing to grow within Dubai’s dynamic hospitality landscape.
With a foundation built across India, Spain, and the UAE, his journey demonstrates how diverse experiences can come together to create a career driven by hospitality, commercial understanding, and a genuine commitment to delivering memorable experiences.
