Why Yas Island Is Becoming a Major Hub for New Dining and Nightlife Concepts

Sunset Hospitality Group is preparing for a significant new chapter in Abu Dhabi, with three fresh concepts planned for Yas Island as the Dubai-founded hospitality company strengthens its presence in the capital.

The expansion will begin with ISOLA Ristorante at Yas Marina and Ora Verde at Yas Bay, both scheduled to open during the fourth quarter of 2026. A third concept, MOOD, is expected to follow at Yas Marina in 2027. Together, the three openings will add Italian dining, a new Yas Bay concept and a nightlife-led venue to a portfolio that already includes several established names across Abu Dhabi.

Sunset Hospitality Group currently operates five venues in the emirate: SUSHISAMBA, Black Tap, Asia Asia, Central and Lock, Stock & Barrel. The company is also in advanced discussions for additional Abu Dhabi projects, with concepts including Attiko, Hanu, Mott 32 and Signor Sassi under consideration, although those further projects have not all been formally confirmed.

The timing is significant. Yas Island is entering another period of major investment, with Miral announcing more than AED12 billion in new tourism, hospitality and entertainment development across the island over the next five years. Aldar is also developing the AED6 billion Yas Point waterfront district on the island’s northern side, while established hubs such as Yas Marina and Yas Bay continue to expand their food, nightlife and leisure offerings.

For Sunset Hospitality Group, the three openings are therefore not simply new restaurants. They represent a deeper commitment to Abu Dhabi and a clear strategy of placing different concepts across some of Yas Island’s busiest lifestyle destinations.

Sunset Hospitality Group Yas Island Expansion at a Glance

The three announced openings cover two different parts of Yas Island and two separate launch periods.

MOODYas Marina2027Dining and entertainment/nightlife

Sunset Hospitality Group has not yet released complete menu details, exact opening dates or operating hours for all three venues. The strongest confirmed information so far concerns their locations, launch windows and overall concept positioning.

The expansion also builds on the group’s existing Abu Dhabi presence, particularly at Yas Bay where Asia Asia, Central and Lock, Stock & Barrel are already established.

ISOLA Ristorante Will Bring Italian Dining to Yas Marina

The first of the three new concepts is ISOLA Ristorante, one of Sunset Hospitality Group’s homegrown Italian brands.

The Yas Marina location is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2026, bringing the concept to one of Abu Dhabi’s most recognisable waterfront and motorsport destinations.

Sunset Hospitality Group describes ISOLA as a restaurant inspired by the culinary traditions of southern Italy and its islands, with an emphasis on approachable all-day dining and drinking rather than highly formal fine dining. Existing ISOLA venues under the group’s portfolio are built around relaxed Mediterranean hospitality and Italian flavours.

That positioning could fit naturally at Yas Marina, where the audience ranges from hotel guests and residents to Formula 1 visitors, yacht owners and diners arriving specifically for the waterfront atmosphere.

The marina already has several restaurants and social venues, so ISOLA will need to distinguish itself through food, design and service rather than location alone.

Its likely strength is that Italian cuisine has broad appeal. Pasta, pizza, seafood, grilled dishes and Mediterranean-style sharing plates can work equally well for family lunches, date nights and group dinners.

Why Yas Marina Makes Sense for ISOLA Ristorante

Yas Marina already functions as more than a marina.

It is a lifestyle destination with restaurants, hotels, entertainment and direct links to Yas Marina Circuit, giving it year-round relevance beyond major event weekends.

That environment works well for a concept positioned around long lunches, relaxed dinners and social dining.

The marina also attracts a different type of crowd from Yas Bay.

Yas Bay is strongly nightlife- and entertainment-oriented, with the Etihad Arena, waterfront restaurants and bars. Yas Marina combines motorsport, leisure boating, hotel guests and dining in a setting that can shift from daytime family visits to evening socialising.

ISOLA therefore gives Sunset Hospitality Group a way to expand its Abu Dhabi footprint without simply placing another concept beside its existing Yas Bay venues.

The brand can reach a new part of the island while remaining within the same broader destination.

Ora Verde Is Coming to Yas Bay in Q4 2026

Yas Island Sunset Hospitality

The second announced opening is Ora Verde, which is scheduled to open at Yas Bay during the fourth quarter of 2026.

The venue will be operated through Sunset Hospitality Group’s Solutions Group business.

At this stage, considerably less has been revealed about Ora Verde than ISOLA.

The company has not yet published a full concept description, detailed menu, exact address within Yas Bay, opening hours or design direction.

That makes Ora Verde one of the more intriguing parts of the expansion.

What is clear is that it will be joining one of Abu Dhabi’s most competitive waterfront dining districts.

Yas Bay Waterfront currently combines restaurants, nightlife, entertainment venues and promenade activity along Pier71 and the wider waterfront. The destination promotes itself as a dining and nightlife hub with a growing range of international concepts.

For a new venue, that creates both opportunity and pressure.

A strong concept can benefit immediately from an established audience, but it also needs a clear reason for diners to choose it over the large number of restaurants already operating nearby.

Yas Bay Is Already Important to Sunset Hospitality Group

Sunset Hospitality Group is not entering Yas Bay for the first time.

Three of its existing Abu Dhabi venues already operate there.

Asia Asia Abu Dhabi sits at The Pier, Yas Bay Waterfront, with a Pan-Asian menu inspired by the ancient Spice Route and views across the water. The restaurant combines seafood, sushi, dim sum and lounge-style dining.

Central is positioned as a food-and-entertainment venue combining burgers, arcade games and bowling in a New York-inspired environment. It is designed to appeal to families during the day while still functioning as a social destination in the evening.

Lock, Stock & Barrel brings a louder nightlife element to Yas Bay through live music, sports, brunches, late-night dining and an industrial-style party-bar atmosphere.

Ora Verde will therefore be joining a district where Sunset Hospitality Group already understands the audience, operating environment and visitor patterns.

That could help the group position the new concept more strategically.

MOOD Will Follow at Yas Marina in 2027

The third opening, MOOD, is planned for Yas Marina in 2027.

Sunset Hospitality Group describes MOOD as a dining and entertainment concept, and its existing MOOD Rooftop Lounge in Dubai is known for a tropical setting, international food, cocktails, live entertainment and late-night programming.

The Yas Marina version could therefore add a more nightlife-focused layer to the marina’s existing dining mix.

This is particularly interesting because ISOLA and MOOD will both operate in Yas Marina but target very different moments.

ISOLA is positioned around Italian dining and a relaxed all-day experience.

MOOD is likely to be more focused on the evening, entertainment and social atmosphere.

That allows Sunset Hospitality Group to build multiple reasons for guests to stay within the same area rather than relying on one concept to serve every audience.

A visitor might dine at one venue and continue the evening at another, especially during major event periods such as the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

The Three Openings Serve Different Parts of the Hospitality Market

One of the strongest aspects of the strategy is that the concepts are not duplicates.

They appear designed to target different occasions.

ConceptLikely Main Occasion
ISOLA RistoranteLunch, dinner, relaxed Italian dining
Ora VerdeNew Yas Bay dining experience
MOODLate-night socialising and entertainment

That distinction matters in a destination such as Yas Island, where the visitor base is unusually diverse.

Families may spend the day at a theme park.

Corporate guests may be staying for meetings or events.

Tourists may arrive for a concert or sports event.

Residents may simply want dinner or nightlife.

A single restaurant brand cannot effectively serve all of those needs, but a portfolio of differentiated venues can.

This is one reason large hospitality groups increasingly build clusters of brands in major lifestyle destinations rather than relying on one flagship restaurant.

Sunset Hospitality Group Already Has Five Abu Dhabi Venues

The three Yas Island openings will expand a current Abu Dhabi portfolio of five venues.

Those existing brands demonstrate the range Sunset Hospitality Group is already building in the capital.

SUSHISAMBA Abu Dhabi operates at Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers and combines Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine. The two-level venue includes sushi and robata counters, outdoor terraces and waterfront views.

Black Tap Abu Dhabi operates at Mamsha Al Saadiyat, bringing the group’s burger-focused American concept to Saadiyat Island.

At Yas Bay, Asia Asia covers Pan-Asian dining, Central combines food and family entertainment, and Lock, Stock & Barrel focuses more strongly on nightlife and live entertainment.

With ISOLA, Ora Verde and MOOD added, the group’s Abu Dhabi portfolio will become significantly broader.

The Group Is Growing Far Beyond Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi expansion sits within a much larger period of international growth for Sunset Hospitality Group.

The company says its global footprint now covers 112 properties across 27 countries, spanning restaurants, resorts, nightlife, fitness and lifestyle hospitality.

The group has also expanded through acquisitions and partnerships.

In 2024, it acquired a majority stake in Maximal Concepts Holding, extending its reach into markets including Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States, Canada, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.

More recently, the acquisition of Solutions Group strengthened its portfolio across nightlife, dining and entertainment in the UAE.

That is relevant to the Abu Dhabi expansion because Ora Verde is being operated through Solutions Group, while Central and Lock, Stock & Barrel already demonstrate the kind of concepts associated with that side of the business.

The Yas Island strategy therefore brings together multiple parts of the wider Sunset Hospitality Group structure.

Abu Dhabi Is Becoming a Bigger Priority for the Group

Sunset Hospitality Group’s early UAE identity was strongly associated with Dubai.

Many of its best-known concepts built their reputation there before expanding internationally.

The latest announcements suggest Abu Dhabi is becoming increasingly important.

The group has said it is also in advanced negotiations for several further projects in the emirate beyond the three confirmed Yas Island openings.

Concepts under consideration include:

  • Attiko
  • Hanu
  • Mott 32
  • Signor Sassi

These should not yet all be treated as confirmed openings.

The company has described them as being part of discussions or its prospective pipeline rather than giving all of them fixed locations and opening dates.

Mott 32 Abu Dhabi does, however, appear on Sunset Hospitality Group’s official location portfolio as an upcoming Abu Dhabi venue.

That indicates the three Yas Island openings may represent only one phase of a much larger Abu Dhabi strategy.

Mott 32 Could Add Another Major International Name

Among the possible future additions, Mott 32 is particularly notable.

The Hong Kong-founded Chinese restaurant is already part of Sunset Hospitality Group’s international portfolio and currently operates in several global cities.

The group’s official site lists an Abu Dhabi branch as “opening soon,” although a final location and opening date have not yet been publicly confirmed.

The brand is known for Cantonese cuisine with influences from Beijing and Shanghai.

Its arrival would strengthen the premium end of Sunset Hospitality Group’s Abu Dhabi portfolio and give the company another globally recognised dining brand alongside SUSHISAMBA.

It would also broaden the cuisine mix considerably, especially if it opens outside Yas Island.

Hanu, Attiko and Signor Sassi Are Also Being Considered

Other brands mentioned in the company’s Abu Dhabi pipeline include Hanu, Attiko and Signor Sassi.

Hanu is a Korean restaurant concept led by Seoul-born chef Kyung Soo Moon.

Attiko is Sunset Hospitality Group’s high-energy rooftop lounge brand, positioned around Pan-Asian flavours, sunset drinks, DJs and late-night entertainment.

Signor Sassi, meanwhile, is a London-born Italian restaurant founded in 1984. Sunset Hospitality Group and San Carlo Group introduced the brand to Dubai in 2023.

None of these should yet be described as definitively opening in Abu Dhabi on a fixed date.

They remain part of the company’s wider negotiations and potential pipeline.

Still, their inclusion provides a useful indication of the type of hospitality mix Sunset Hospitality Group is considering for the capital.

Yas Island Is Entering Another Major Growth Phase

The expansion is also easier to understand when placed within the wider development of Yas Island.

Miral announced in September 2026 that it will invest more than AED12 billion in tourism and entertainment enhancements on Yas Island over the next five years. The programme includes new experiences, expansions of existing attractions and additional hospitality capacity.

The investment is separate from the previously announced Disney project and is intended to strengthen Yas Island’s position as an international leisure destination.

Earlier in 2026, Yas Waterworld opened a significant expansion adding eight new slides, two jumping platforms and a lounging pool, bringing the attraction’s total experiences above 70.

The island is therefore growing on multiple fronts at the same time: attractions, hospitality, restaurants, residential development and live entertainment.

That gives restaurant operators more reasons to invest.

Yas Point Will Add Another Waterfront Community

Aldar’s Yas Point development adds another layer to this long-term expansion.

Announced in July 2026, the AED6 billion project will transform the northern side of Yas Island into a waterfront community combining residences, a five-star hotel, retail, dining, public parks and water-based activities.

The development will include the first beach on the north side of the island and a 700-metre promenade lined with dining and retail.

Once completed, Yas Point is expected to become home to around 5,000 residents.

For hospitality operators, that kind of residential growth matters.

Restaurants on Yas Island will increasingly serve not only theme-park visitors and event crowds, but also a larger year-round residential community.

That can create a more stable customer base beyond tourism peaks.

Yas Bay Continues to Strengthen Its Dining and Nightlife Identity

Yas Bay is already one of the clearest examples of this mixed-use strategy.

The waterfront combines restaurants, bars, entertainment, events and promenade activity around Pier71 and the Etihad Arena district.

The area can function differently depending on the time of day.

Families visit for meals and entertainment.

Concertgoers arrive before and after events.

Groups use the waterfront for nightlife.

Tourists staying on Yas Island can combine dinner with attractions elsewhere on the island.

Sunset Hospitality Group’s decision to add Ora Verde to this environment makes sense because the company already has operational experience there through Asia Asia, Central and Lock, Stock & Barrel.

The challenge will be ensuring the new venue offers something genuinely different.

Yas Marina Gives Sunset Hospitality Group a New Cluster

While Yas Bay is already established territory for the group, Yas Marina represents the next major cluster.

ISOLA will open there first, followed by MOOD in 2027.

This gives Sunset Hospitality Group two complementary concepts in the same destination without forcing them into direct competition.

The marina’s connection to Yas Marina Circuit is particularly valuable during major motorsport weekends.

The 2026 Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is scheduled for December 4–6, and Yas Marina remains a major hospitality zone around the race weekend.

If ISOLA opens before that period, the timing could provide the venue with immediate exposure during one of Abu Dhabi’s busiest hospitality weekends.

No exact ISOLA opening date has yet been announced, so that possibility should be treated as conditional rather than confirmed.

The Openings Could Strengthen Yas Island’s Day-to-Night Appeal

Yas Island already has many attractions that dominate daytime itineraries.

Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, SeaWorld Yas Island and Yas Waterworld can easily fill entire days.

The island’s dining and nightlife offer then becomes crucial after those attractions close.

This is where concepts such as ISOLA, Ora Verde and MOOD can add value.

A family may finish a day at a theme park and want dinner.

A couple may visit Yas Island specifically for a restaurant.

A group may attend a concert and stay for nightlife.

A Formula 1 visitor may want a full evening within walking distance of the marina.

The more varied the food and entertainment portfolio becomes, the easier it is for Yas Island to keep guests there from morning until late at night.

Three Openings Could Be Only the Beginning

The most important point about Sunset Hospitality Group’s announcement is that it does not appear to represent the end of its Abu Dhabi expansion.

The company has said it is in advanced discussions around additional projects in the emirate and is also preparing to reveal what has been described as a major new island community project.

Details of that larger project have not yet been released.

This means speculation about its location, size or brand mix would be premature.

However, the statement signals that Abu Dhabi is now receiving a level of attention that goes well beyond individual restaurant openings.

For a group already operating more than 100 properties internationally, building clusters of venues in Yas Bay and Yas Marina could be part of a much bigger long-term plan.

What Is Confirmed About Sunset Hospitality Group’s Yas Island Expansion?

With several names being discussed, it is useful to separate confirmed projects from those still being negotiated.

This distinction matters because Sunset Hospitality Group’s Abu Dhabi pipeline is moving quickly, but not every discussed concept has reached the same level of certainty.

Why the Expansion Matters for Abu Dhabi’s Dining Scene

Abu Dhabi’s restaurant market has become increasingly competitive.

International brands, local operators and major hotel groups are all expanding across Saadiyat Island, Yas Island, Al Maryah Island and the city centre.

Sunset Hospitality Group’s strategy reflects this shift.

It is not relying on one cuisine or one audience.

SUSHISAMBA targets premium destination dining.

Black Tap serves a more casual burger audience.

Central combines dining with family entertainment.

Asia Asia operates as a waterfront restaurant and lounge.

Lock, Stock & Barrel is built around nightlife.

ISOLA will bring Italian dining, Ora Verde adds another Yas Bay proposition and MOOD is expected to strengthen the late-night segment.

That portfolio approach gives the group flexibility.

If one part of the hospitality market softens, another may still perform strongly.

What Diners Can Expect Next

The next important stage will be the release of more detailed information for the three venues.

For ISOLA, diners will want to know:

  • Exact opening date
  • Menu
  • Terrace or waterfront configuration
  • Reservation details
  • Weekend programming

For Ora Verde, the biggest question is the concept itself, because relatively little has been publicly revealed so far.

For MOOD, attention will likely focus on nightlife format, entertainment, operating hours and how closely the Yas Marina version follows the existing Dubai concept.

As opening dates get closer, the design and guest experience will become as important as the brand names.

In a market with many international restaurants, a recognisable concept alone is no longer enough.

Sunset Hospitality Group Is Building a Bigger Abu Dhabi Presence

The three new Yas Island openings mark one of Sunset Hospitality Group’s clearest statements of intent in Abu Dhabi so far.

ISOLA Ristorante and Ora Verde are expected to open during the fourth quarter of 2026, while MOOD is scheduled to follow at Yas Marina in 2027.

Together, they will expand an Abu Dhabi portfolio that already includes SUSHISAMBA, Black Tap, Asia Asia, Central and Lock, Stock & Barrel.

The choice of locations is equally important.

Yas Bay already gives the group a strong base in one of the capital’s most active dining and nightlife districts, while Yas Marina offers access to a different audience built around waterfront leisure, hotels and major motorsport events.

At the same time, Yas Island itself is entering a significant new investment cycle, supported by more than AED12 billion in planned tourism and entertainment development from Miral and additional large-scale projects such as Yas Point.

That makes Sunset Hospitality Group’s timing logical.

As the island adds new visitors, residents, hotel rooms and attractions, demand for differentiated dining and nightlife is likely to grow with it.

The three confirmed openings may therefore be less about individual restaurants and more about positioning the group for the next stage of Yas Island’s evolution.

And with further Abu Dhabi projects already being discussed, ISOLA, Ora Verde and MOOD may only be the beginning.
