Growing up with a father who was also a chef and hospitality professional, Emre was introduced to the world of restaurants at an early age. He saw the discipline required to work in professional kitchens and understood that creating a memorable dining experience demanded much more than cooking skills.
That early influence eventually became the starting point for his own professional journey.
Emre pursued culinary education in Turkey and began developing his skills across professional restaurant environments. His experience covered fine dining, sauces, charcoal cooking and meat-focused cuisine, giving him a strong technical foundation.
Over time, however, his ambitions began to extend beyond the kitchen.
Building a Strong Culinary Foundation in Turkey
Turkey provided Emre with the environment where his culinary identity began to take shape.
Working across respected restaurant settings, he developed an appreciation for quality ingredients, precise preparation and consistent execution. His focus on meat and charcoal cooking became an important part of his professional identity, while his experience with sauces and fine dining strengthened his technical understanding of cuisine.
His professional development also included training associated with Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, giving him exposure to additional standards within the international culinary world.
These experiences would later become important not only to his work as a chef but also to his approach as a leader.
Emre learned that consistency is one of the most important qualities in hospitality. A restaurant cannot deliver excellence occasionally. Guests expect the same level of quality every time they walk through the door.
That principle would remain central throughout his career.
Butcha Opens the Door to Dubai
A major turning point came through Butcha.
After developing an understanding of the brand and its approach to meat and Turkish hospitality in Turkey, Emre became part of its expansion into Dubai.
In 2015, he relocated to the UAE and joined Butcha Steakhouse Dubai as a Sauce Chef.
Dubai presented a completely different scale of opportunity. The city was rapidly developing its reputation as one of the world’s leading hospitality and dining destinations, creating an environment where ambitious professionals could grow quickly.
For Emre, the opportunity became much bigger than a new job.
Within a year, he progressed to Head Chef and moved to City Walk, where he became involved in leading another Butcha location.
The transition placed him closer to the wider business of running a restaurant.
From Head Chef to Restaurant Operator
Being a Head Chef requires much more than preparing food.
There are teams to manage, suppliers to coordinate, standards to maintain and service pressures to handle. Emre gradually became involved in areas that extended beyond traditional kitchen responsibilities.
His work began to include supplier selection, purchasing, recruitment, food costs, menu development, team training and guest engagement.
This broader exposure changed the way he looked at hospitality.
A perfectly cooked steak was important, but it was only one part of the guest experience.
The service also had to be right. The team needed to be motivated. Costs needed to be controlled. Suppliers needed to deliver consistent quality. Pricing had to make commercial sense. Most importantly, guests needed a reason to come back.
Emre was beginning to think like an operator.
Growing With Dubai’s Hospitality Industry
One of the most valuable aspects of Emre’s career was the opportunity to experience major changes within Dubai’s hospitality landscape.
During his years associated with Butcha, the wider corporate environment included organisations such as Meraas, Sarood Hospitality and Jumeirah Restaurants, before becoming part of the broader Dubai Holding ecosystem.
For Emre, these changes represented more than corporate restructuring.
They exposed him to different management systems, operational expectations, reporting structures and commercial priorities.
Remaining effective through these changes required adaptability.
His experience gave him an understanding of hospitality from different levels. He knew what it meant to work on the kitchen floor, but he was also learning how restaurants function within larger corporate organisations.
That combination became one of his greatest professional strengths.
When Culinary Excellence Met Commercial Thinking
As Emre’s responsibilities increased, the traditional boundary between kitchen management and restaurant management became less important.
He began looking at the business as a complete operation.
Food quality had to work alongside profitability. Recruitment had to support service standards. Purchasing had to protect both quality and costs. Menu decisions had to consider customer expectations as well as commercial performance.
This was an important transformation.
Emre was no longer asking only whether a dish was good enough.
He was asking whether the restaurant as a whole was performing at its best.
That mindset helped him understand the connection between people, product, service and financial results.
It also prepared him for the transition from Head Chef to General Manager.
Recognition for More Than Cooking
Even as his career expanded into restaurant management, Emre continued to demonstrate his culinary ability.
In 2021, representing Butcha Steakhouse, he participated in City Walk’s Taste The Best competition, which brought together restaurants and hospitality venues from across Dubai’s competitive dining scene.
His tenderloin dish won the competition for Butcha.
The achievement was significant because it reflected the connection between Emre and the brand. His culinary skills were still contributing directly to the identity and reputation of the restaurant.
A year later, in 2022, Emre was nominated by Jumeirah Restaurants for the Caterer Middle East Power List.
The recognition highlighted his contribution to Butcha and his ability to combine kitchen leadership with service and restaurant operations.
His leadership was also reflected in business performance, with the restaurant achieving its budgets and targets and delivering like-for-like outperformance for three consecutive years.
The Natural Move Into General Management
For some professionals, becoming a General Manager can represent a dramatic career change.
For Emre, it was the natural next step.
His career had already taken him from cooking to menu development, from kitchen management to team leadership and from food costs to broader commercial performance.
The scope of his thinking had gradually expanded.
He moved from focusing on dishes to understanding menus, from menus to operations and from operations to the entire restaurant business.
The kitchen had given him his foundation.
Restaurant management gave him a wider perspective.
Together, those experiences created the leadership profile he needed for General Management.
A General Manager Who Understands the Kitchen
Today, Emre serves as General Manager of Atlantic Superior Restaurant Group, a franchise-focused hospitality group building a portfolio of established restaurant brands, including Butcha, with ambitions for continued expansion across the Middle East.
His current position brings together everything he has learned throughout his career.
Unlike leaders who enter restaurant management without extensive culinary experience, Emre understands the operational reality from the inside.
He knows what happens during a demanding service.
He understands the pressure faced by chefs.
He knows how ingredient quality affects the final product.
He understands how purchasing decisions influence costs.
He also understands how team culture influences service and how service ultimately affects guest loyalty.
This gives him a practical perspective on leadership.
Emre Kaya Building the Next Chapter of Hospitality
The Middle East continues to attract restaurant brands, hospitality investors and ambitious operators. As the region’s dining sector grows, successful expansion requires more than opening new locations.
Brands need consistency.
Teams need strong leadership.
Operations need discipline.
Guests need memorable experiences.
And businesses need sustainable commercial models.
Emre’s experience places him at the intersection of these priorities.
His focus is no longer limited to creating great food. It is about helping restaurants operate successfully, developing people, protecting brand standards and creating the conditions for long-term growth.
That is a significant evolution from where his career began.
From the Kitchen to a Bigger Vision
Emre Kaya’s journey is ultimately a story about looking beyond the job title.
He started by learning the craft of cooking in Turkey. He moved to Dubai and grew through the ranks of Butcha. He became a Head Chef, developed restaurant operations experience and learned how to manage teams, suppliers, costs and guest relationships.
Eventually, those experiences opened the door to General Management.
Yet the chef remains an important part of who he is as a hospitality professional.
The discipline of the kitchen continues to influence his leadership. The attention to detail remains part of his approach. The understanding of ingredients and food quality still shapes his view of the guest experience.
What has changed is the scale of his responsibility.
Today, Emre is looking at hospitality from a much wider perspective, connecting product, people, service, profitability and brand development.
His story shows that some of the strongest hospitality leaders are created by experiencing the business from the ground up.
For Emre, the journey started with learning how to create an exceptional plate.
It has now evolved into helping build exceptional restaurants, stronger teams and hospitality brands prepared for their next chapter of growth across the Middle East.
