How Rasha Al-Naqeeb Built Her Interior Design Journey

For Rasha Al-Naqeeb, interior design is not simply about selecting beautiful furniture or following the latest trends. It is about understanding people, listening to how they want to live and transforming that vision into a space that feels personal.

The Iraqi Canadian architect and interior designer has gradually built a career that connects architecture, interiors, entrepreneurship and international design experience. As the founder of Adore Decor Studio, Rasha has worked across Canada and the United Arab Emirates while developing a design philosophy focused on combining beauty with functionality.

Her journey has also brought professional recognition. In 2023, she was selected as a judge for the Ontario Interior Design Award in Canada, becoming part of the expert panel responsible for evaluating some of the province’s notable interior design work. More recently, her name was included among the Top 50 Interior Designers in the MOIVO Awards 2026 ranking.

Behind those achievements is a story built through education, experience, cultural transition and the courage to create an independent design business.

Rasha Al-Naqeeb Found Her Direction Through Architecture

Rasha’s connection with design began long before she became an entrepreneur.

Born and raised in Iraq, she developed an interest in architecture and creative spaces at a young age. Architecture eventually became the professional foundation that allowed her to understand how buildings work before focusing more deeply on the atmosphere created inside them.

She completed a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and continued strengthening her professional qualifications after moving into interior design.

Her credentials include the NCIDQ qualification, one of the recognised professional standards for interior designers in North America. She is also associated with ARIDO, the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario.

These qualifications helped give Rasha something essential in the design industry.

Creativity gave her ideas, but technical knowledge helped her turn those ideas into realistic environments.

Building Adore Decor Studio Became A Defining Step

Entrepreneurship created an opportunity for Rasha to bring her personal design philosophy into one identity.

Adore Decor by Rasha was established in Toronto in 2018. The studio later developed its presence between Canada and the UAE, allowing Rasha to work within different cultural and architectural environments.

Building an independent studio meant taking responsibility for more than design.

A founder must understand clients, coordinate projects, manage timelines, make business decisions and protect the quality associated with the brand.

That combination can be demanding, especially in luxury interiors where clients often arrive with highly specific expectations.

Rasha built the studio around the belief that every space has its own story. Instead of imposing one design style on every client, the goal is to understand the personality, lifestyle and aspirations of the people who will use the space.

This approach has become central to Adore Decor Studio.

Her Portfolio Grew Across Residential And Commercial Design

Over time, the studio expanded across different categories of interior design.

Its published portfolio includes residential projects in areas such as Jumeirah Golf Estates, Palm Jumeirah, Mirdif, Al Barsha, City Walk, Al Reem Island and DAMAC Hills. The studio has also worked on commercial environments including offices, beauty spaces and corporate projects.

Working across different spaces requires flexibility.

A family villa has very different needs from an office. A luxury apartment requires another approach again. Designers must consider movement, lighting, materials, storage and comfort while ensuring that the overall result still feels visually complete.

Rasha’s work demonstrates an interest in refined modern spaces where the aesthetic does not completely overpower practical needs.

For her, successful interiors need to work as well as they photograph.

The Challenges Behind A Growing Design Business

Interior design can appear glamorous from the outside.

The finished photographs show polished kitchens, carefully selected furniture and beautifully styled rooms. What they do not show are the revisions, site visits, construction decisions and unexpected problems that happen during a project.

For an entrepreneur, those challenges become part of everyday work.

A design may look perfect on paper but require adjustments during execution. Materials can behave differently than expected. Clients may change their preferences. Budgets and timelines must remain under control.

Rasha’s journey shows why patience becomes just as important as creativity.

Moving between countries and building a professional identity in different markets also requires adaptability. Design preferences are influenced by culture, lifestyle and environment, meaning that a successful designer must continue learning instead of relying on one formula.

That ability to adapt has helped Rasha grow from an architect into a design entrepreneur with an international perspective.

Becoming A Canadian Design Awards Judge Marked A Milestone

One of the most meaningful moments in Rasha Al-Naqeeb’s career arrived in 2023.

She was selected as a judge for the Ontario Interior Design Award, joining a panel responsible for evaluating creative and innovative interior design work across Ontario.

The role carried particular significance because judging requires a different level of professional responsibility.

Instead of presenting her own designs, Rasha had to evaluate the work of other professionals.

A judge must look beyond personal taste and consider creativity, execution, functionality and overall design thinking.

For someone who had spent years building her own professional journey, the opportunity represented recognition of the experience she had developed along the way.

Rasha Al-Naqeeb Continues Expanding Her Design Influence

Rasha’s career continues to evolve.

Her current work remains connected with architecture, interior design and Adore Decor Studio, while her digital presence has also become a platform for sharing design knowledge and practical advice with a wider audience.

In 2026, another recognition added momentum to her journey when she was ranked number 49 among the Top 50 Interior Designers in the MOIVO Awards listing.

Recognition, however, appears to be only one part of her larger professional direction.

Her studio continues working across residential and commercial projects while providing services including interior design consultancy, furnishing, custom furniture, styling, project management and workplace strategy.

The wider vision remains focused on transforming ideas into spaces people can actually experience.

Designing A Career With Meaning Beyond Beautiful Spaces

Rasha Al-Naqeeb’s journey offers an important reminder about creative careers.

Talent may attract attention, but lasting professional growth also requires education, discipline and the willingness to keep evolving.

From studying architecture to becoming professionally qualified in North America, establishing Adore Decor Studio in Toronto and expanding her presence into the UAE, Rasha has continued building one stage upon another.

Her career has moved from designing spaces to building a business and eventually helping evaluate the work of other designers.

That progression gives her story its strongest message.

A successful space begins with a vision, but bringing that vision to life requires patience and execution. A successful career works in much the same way.

For Rasha, every new project represents another opportunity to combine creativity with purpose and prove that thoughtful design can change not only how a space looks, but also how people feel when they live and work inside it.
