For Dr Elisa Bolletta, plastic surgery has never been only about changing appearance. Her work has grown around a much broader question: how can medicine understand each patient more deeply and create care that remains personal from the first consultation to long after surgery?

Rooted in the Dolomites of Northern Italy but developed through years of experience across different medical cultures, her vision is increasingly international. A Medical Journey That Became Deeply Personal

Elisa entered medicine with curiosity that went beyond learning procedures. She wanted to understand why certain approaches worked, how outcomes could be studied and how medical care could continue to improve through observation and research.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery in Italy, she specialized in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery. As her training progressed, breast surgery became increasingly central to her professional identity.

For Elisa, this area of medicine carries a meaning that goes beyond physical appearance. The breast can be closely connected with femininity, confidence, identity and self perception. Working with women seeking aesthetic treatment, reconstruction or care following cancer placed her beside patients during highly personal moments.

Those experiences gradually changed the way she looked at surgery. The procedure remained important, but so did everything surrounding it, including trust, communication, expectations and recovery.

Finding Beauty Through Harmony Rather Than Perfection

Elisa’s understanding of aesthetics was also influenced by interests far beyond the operating room. Architecture, interiors, art and nature helped develop the way she observes balance, proportion and form.

Her idea of beauty is therefore not based on creating one standard result for everyone. Instead, she looks at harmony within the individual.

This principle became especially important in breast surgery, where anatomy can vary significantly from one patient to another. Rather than forcing patients into a predefined idea of what is considered beautiful, Elisa believes the role of the surgeon is to understand what works naturally with each person’s anatomy and expectations.

It is an approach that places individuality at the centre of surgical planning.

One of the defining parts of Elisa’s professional development has been her interest in measurement and data.

Her research into aesthetic breast surgery explored how breasts change following surgical procedures and how anthropometric measurements can help surgeons study outcomes more objectively. Her work in this field has been published in international medical literature and developed through collaboration with specialists including Canadian breast surgeon Dr Elizabeth Hall Findlay.

For Elisa, measurement does not remove the artistic side of surgery. Instead, it gives surgical judgment another layer of information.

She began collecting and analysing measurements because she wanted to understand scientifically what an experienced eye often recognises as balance and harmony.

The goal was never to standardize patients. It was the opposite.

By understanding anatomical differences more clearly, data can support more personalized decisions for each individual patient.

As Elisa explains, “True innovation begins with listening: listening to patients, to data, to experience, and also to what medicine has yet to fully understand.”

Why Surgery Is Only One Part of the Journey

Another major turning point came when Elisa began exploring the relationship between surgery and regenerative medicine.

Traditionally, surgery can be viewed as the central event in a patient’s treatment. Elisa increasingly sees it as one stage within a longer journey.

Preparation before surgery, tissue condition, healing, scar evolution and long term stability can all influence how a patient experiences the final result.

This thinking has encouraged her to explore regenerative strategies alongside established surgical techniques. Her aim is to place greater attention on the biological quality of tissues before and after an operation rather than focusing only on what happens inside the operating theatre.

This combination of surgery and regeneration has become one of the key ideas behind her current work.

International Experience Changed the Way Elisa Thinks

Elisa’s professional development has taken her beyond Italy to medical and surgical environments in Canada, France, Belgium, Spain and South Korea.

These experiences were important not simply because they exposed her to different techniques. They also introduced her to different philosophies of patient care.

Training and collaboration at centres including Banff Plastic Surgery in Canada and breast surgery institutions in Paris helped deepen her focus on aesthetic, reconstructive and oncoplastic breast surgery. Her academic path also included further education in microsurgery and breast surgery.

South Korea added another perspective through its highly developed aesthetic medicine culture, while her European experience continued to connect surgery with reconstruction, research and patient centred care.

For Elisa, travel became part of her medical education because every healthcare culture asked different questions and offered a different way of looking at the patient.

Creating Elisà Plastic Surgery Around a Bigger Idea

Eventually, Elisa began asking a different question.

Instead of thinking only about how she could perform surgery better, she started thinking about how the entire experience of care could be improved.

That idea helped shape Elisà Plastic Surgery, which she founded together with CEO and Co Founder Liberato Aliberti.

Elisa leads the medical vision, while Aliberti contributes to strategic development, technology and international relations. Together, they are working to connect clinical practice with research, innovation and a more internationally oriented model of personalized medicine.

The project remains strongly connected to Italy and the Dolomites, an environment Elisa associates with nature, balance and beauty. At the same time, its ambitions extend well beyond one location.

For her, the objective is not simply to build another plastic surgery brand. It is to develop a medical institution where scientific research, technology, regenerative medicine and personal attention can exist within the same patient journey.

Why the Gulf Is Part of Her International Vision

The Gulf has become particularly important within Elisa’s future plans.

Her interest lies in creating relationships between Italian medical experience and the Gulf’s growing focus on innovation.

Her current work also includes technological innovation inspired by the same research journey, with the ambition of turning clinical knowledge into tools and approaches that may become useful within increasingly advanced healthcare systems.

The direction is clear. Elisa wants the future of plastic surgery to become more precise without becoming less human, more technological without becoming standardized, and more innovative without losing sight of the individual.

For her, medicine continues to begin with curiosity.

And perhaps that is what defines her journey most clearly. Every new achievement has produced another question, another area to study and another reason to keep evolving.
